ABOUT US
The purpose of Open Range Cowboy Church is to carry the Good News of Jesus Christ's atoning work on Calvary's cross to the Western Heritage culture of Cut & Shoot, Conroe, and the surrounding areas. Then to disciple those we reach.
In mid-December of 2005, while attending Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va, Jesse and Arleen Prewitt (of Cut & Shoot, TX), felt the call of God on their lives and determined to serve the Lord wherever he led. On January 29, 2006, in the office of life-long friend and mentor, Nat Dutton (Pastor of Dixie Baptist Church in Sieper, La), Open Range Cowboy Church was "born". Bathed in prayer and pastoral counsel, the work began with the first meeting in the Cut & Shoot Volunteer Fire Dept, in Cut & Shoot, TX on February 12, 2006 with 16 in attendance. Soon the meetings were averaging 30 in attendance, and then again doubled when the opportunity came to move into the present facility.
We worship in a 7,000 sq. ft. facility situated on approximately 6 acres with additional acreage in negotiations. An arena is currently in the process of being built.
We are members of the Texas Fellowship of Cowboy Churches and the Baptist General Convention of Texas, both of which have helped and supported us tremendously in our ministry efforts. We are also thankful to Caney Creek Cowboy Church (Grangerland, TX.) and Pastor Mark Terry, who agreed to sponsor us early in the work.
We are also building facilities for the children and youth's ministries. We have a live band that plays "Country Gospel" music, and the friendliest folk in Texas that will make you feel "at home" right away.
We are a "come as you are" ministry. (Men look on the outside, God looks on the heart). So if you are looking for a church home that really does "Feel Like Home", we just might be the church for you.
Come on Home!
